A cargo vessel’s captain and an engineer were killed during an attack by Pirates off the coast of Nigeria on February 13, 2012.The rest of the crew members took shelter in a citadel.According to the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) this incident is one of three in the area in a four day period.Nigeria has been placed in the same risk category as Somalia since piracy in these waters has intensified and is becoming a high risk area for shippers.It is believed that a criminal group with vast expertise in the oil industry is behind the recent hijacking attacks targeting tankers.
