Violent Hijacking in Guadalajara

 Yesterday, May 15 at 6:50 p.m. a truck loaded with pharmaceutical products, athletic shoes, clothing and electrodomestics was hijacked by four cargo thieves in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco (exact location of the incident click here).  The truck was recovered in the municipality of Tlaquepaque thanks to the GPS device installed. The load was also recovered intact, some products were found inside a house (63 St. Rio Hondo) and the rest in the yard.

Police in Puebla captures gang specialized in cargo theft and truck dismantling

 On Saturday May 12, police captured eight cargo thieves after hijacking a truck loaded with gravel in the outskirts of Puebla city. The owner of the truck alerted authorities after finding out the truck was being deviated from its original route. Police started searching the area, located the truck and captured four thieves who led police to a garage where they used to dismantled trucks and  make fake or altered license plates. The remaining four thieves were captured at the garage.

Potential Traffic Disruptions in Frankfurt

On May 16, in protest of government austerity measures, activists are calling for mass demonstrations in Frankfurt, Germany. City authorities are concerned that the demonstrations could become violent and therefore have banned most of them. A march on May 19 at 12:00 from the city’s main rail station to the headquarters of the European Central Bank is still planned. It is possible that despite the bans from city authorities, protests in Frankfurt will still take place, but it is unlikely that they will be violent.

Cargo theft ring responsible for $76 million pharmaceutical theft arrested

 The FBI headquarters in North Miami Dade is processing the arrests of the 11 cargo theft ring members who were responsible for the $76 million theft that occurred at a Connecticut warehouse in March 2010. The members are facing multiple charges including conspiracy to sell stolen goods, sales of stolen goods, concealing or storing stolen goods and conspiracy to sell and disperse stolen goods.
