Latest Security News

The Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigations Division (THP-CID), along with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, charged 6 individuals on Monday, October 8, for an elaborate scheme of allegedly stealing tractor trailer loads of cargo worth $1.8 million.   During a scheme that has apparently been operating since 2010, several individuals employed by SCS Trucking in Whitwell, TN who were responsible for taking loads of scrap metal from Ashland City to South Pittsburg, TN were allegedly paying off security guards and workers at the pick-up and receiving facilities in order to divert loads of scrap metal to Dodson Scrap Metal in Whitwell, TN.  According to investigators, the scrap metal was not logged as received by the owners of Dodson Scrap Metal, who would then transport the cargo to Alabama where it was sold for cash.   Investigators charged Jay Sanders, Gary Alto, Randall Brown, Melissa Brown, James King, and Craig Meeks, who are now facing charges of theft of property over $250,000, a class A felony with penalties of 15-25 years in prison if convicted. Booking photos are available via Marion County Sherriff’s Department.
