Thousands of informal taxi drivers blocked traffic on Tuesday, June 12 at 8:30 AM. The protests occurred in some areas in the provinces of San Jose, Limon, Guanacaste and Puntarenas. The drivers are still waiting for the work permits that the government agreed to grand them last year, which will give them the opportunity to legally work. The blockades were cleared yesterday at 1:00 PM, but are expected to resume in the next few days in order to put more pressure on the government and hopefully speed up the process.
