Protesters associated with the Occupy movement are planning a joint proposed "West Coast Port Shutdown" scheduled for Dec. 12. There are mixed reports as to whether the occupy movement will be supported by International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) despite claimes by the ILWU that the union will not support the shutdown. Protests are in the following port cities:
- Los Angeles
- San Diego
- Oakland
- Portland
- Tacoma
- Seattle
- Vancouver
- Anchorage
- Houston
While the overall success of this shutdown remains in question, there is little doubt that transportation and generall business disruptions around the listed ports are highly probable and should be planned for accordingly.
