On March 27, at 7:30 a.m. three truck drivers were beaten with sticks by a group of criminals at a rest area located along the Monterrey – Saltillo highway. The three drivers were sleeping when the criminals broke the truck windows and attacked them. One of the drivers was fatally injured and died at the scene. Yesterday, March 30, another driver was robbed and seriously injured after beaten by a group of thieves along the Saltillo – Torreon highway. He was also attacked while sleeping inside the trailer. Apparently, the criminals are interested in money and drivers’ personal belongings. Companies operating along the Monterrey – Saltillo – Torreon highways should keep in mind that drivers are at a high-risk of being victims of violence. There are no safe rest areas or truck stops to spend the night.
