In an effort to reduce the amount of pollution in Beijing, the city’s traffic authority will begin checking cargo trucks more thoroughly on Thursday, February 23 to enforce adherence to gas emission standards. Trucks will be reviewed for proper emission standards at checkpoints and onramps before entering Beijing. If they do not comply, they will not be allowed to enter the city. In order to make it more difficult for non-emission standard trucks to sneak into the city, emission checks will occur 24 hours a day inside Beijing.
